Alex can be seen in the wild in the Austin area, working on her laptop to optimize user experience wherever she can. Occasionally she leaves the work environment to forage for books or good food.

Alex shares den space with her mate and various members of species Canis lupus familiaris and Felis catus.

* Developers will know this, but for non-programmers, "Hello, World!" is the traditional first output of the first program a programmer creates in a given language. I've written "Hello, World!" programs in Basic, FORTRAN****, Pascal, Perl, Java, JavaScript, and many more, though most of my coding is restricted to front-end development nowadays.

** Arborea is paleontologist and astrobiologist Peter Ward's suggested category for the evolution associated with a given planet, unaffected by outside influence. He did not name Earth's taxon for this, but science fiction has answered this question repeatedly and well: hence, Terra.

**** FORTRAN is now written as Fortran, but it was FORTRAN when I learned it. Personally, I've always thought it should have been ForTran, since it's short for "Formula Translation."
